You Can Have Systems … You Can Have Shiny Objects … But Not Both

You can have marketing systems or you can have shiny objects in your business, but you can’t have both. “Small Business Stacey” lays out how these two principles completely conflict with one another and why they do not work together in business. #MarketingInTwoMinutesOrLess  #ASmallBizLife

Here’s the transcript:

Hey, everybody. Small Business Stacey. If there’s one thing that COVID-19 has taught me, it’s that systems work. Systems are important … particularly marketing systems. It’s kind of funny, because all of those supposed marketing gurus out there have suddenly gone quiet. Why is that? Well, likely because they built their business on shiny objects, telling their clients to put all their money and efforts into things like Facebook and Google ads, or digital marketing. Well, how’s that working out for them and their clients today?

You see, you don’t need shiny objects. What you need is a simple six-step marketing system, and that’s what I’ve laid out in my book, Small Business Marketing Made EZ. It’s the same six simple steps that I’ve used to transform my business way back in 9/11, in 2008, and the same six steps I’m using today in my business, and my marketing clients, who, by the way, are now pivoting, profiting and thriving.

Organize around business functions, not people. Build systems within each business function. Let systems run the business and people run the systems. People come and go but the systems remain constant.
