Stop Wasting Time and (FINALLY) Make More Money With These 5 Social Media Video Marketing Tips

If I can do this, so can you.

It’s time to stop wasting time on social media and start making money.

Now I have a little secret for you today. Video scares the crap outta me. I’m not gonna lie, and it took me a really long time to dive into this medium.

Now many of the networks are now prioritizing video content in their news feed, and there are some amazing new features for video content, including Facebook’s auto-play feature for video, Twitter’s 30-Second Tweets, Instagram’s 15-second micro-content, and Pinterest’s pinnable videos. There are quite a few brands that are using video content really well in their social media, but most are still trying to get their footing. Now if you’re trying to get into the video marketing game, you’ll definitely want to listen up to my five strategies for video content in social media marketing to help drive sales and conversions.

 1. Consider your video length. It’s estimated that you have between three to five seconds to grab the attention of a user while scrolling through their news feed. Will you be able to grab their attention and will you be able to retain their attention for the entire video? For Facebook and YouTube videos, I usually recommend videos that are no more than five minutes long, simply because the retention just isn’t there, and you can view retention based on how long somebody viewed your video in your insights on YouTube, and on Facebook.

2. “Let images be your voice.” There’s no disputing that video is the best way to let someone who can’t physical see or experience your product or service to do so. Examples of this might be fashion, interiors, real-estate or even vacation rentals. Just remember, in many cases, videos will play in-stream without audio, until the user clicks to hear what you have to say. How will this impact your content? Are people going to understand what you’re selling without any audio? A lot of brands are looking to visual cues and even captions to help increase clicks to hear audio.

3. “Give a sneak peek.” In most cases the goal of video is drive traffic to your website. By giving a sneak peek of a product or a service, you can provide a call to action that will lead them back to your website and increase your conversions and sales.

Bonus tip: by sending people back to your website, you could potentially use that traffic for retargeting. For example, Facebook ads, which might give you higher conversions.

4. Getting on the trend wave. If you really want people looking at your content, you might want to consider talking about trending content, and you can find this through Google, Facebook, and even Twitter. Just find out what’s in the news and incorporate your video around that.

5. “Embed and upload your content.” Now you already probably know that you can embed YouTube videos on your blog, but what about uploading Periscope videos to Facebook? Consider how you can cross pollinate networks and reuse and recycle content again and again. I’ve started doing Facebook lives and repurpose the content sharing it on my other pages and my profile for additional visibility and exposure.

Those are my five strategies for using video content, and I want to leave you with this: video marketing is not the future, it’s the present. And if you are not using it, you could be left behind. Now get out there, start creating content, and I hope to see you soon.
