Small Business Stacey, and I bet you would like to know what your competition is doing to advertise their business on Facebook. Well, I’m going to share with you two ways that you can find that out. Bear with me, I’m going to share my screen. Okay. Let’s say that you are a realtor, and you’re curious about what your competition is doing in running Facebook ads. So you could go to one of your competitor’s Facebook pages and there’s this little tab on the side called info and ads, and when you click on that it will show you what ads they are running. Pretty powerful, right? And you can get a sense then of what they’re doing, how they’re marketing and also what type of engagement they’re getting.
Another way that you can get clearer on the targeting of those ads is, let’s say you look in your stream and for example, Google you know any kind of ad says sponsored and we all see so much more sponsored content in our stream. But we’re wondering why is Google sending me this ad. Well, if you click on this three little dots over here and then say why am I seeing this, it gives you why they are targeting you. So Google is wanting to reach people who are part of an audience called Facebook access mobile Android devices so you can see that they are targeting based on people using Android. It also tells you that they’re targeting people age 18 and older who live in the U.S. Brilliant, right? Because they don’t want to target business using let’s say, Apple devices.
Spying has always gone on since ancient times.
So this helps you get an understanding of what kind of targeting your competition is doing. Let me see if I can find … so here’s another ad. The Closers Café. Why are they targeting me? Because they know that I’m interested in Infusionsoft, interesting, and then they are reaching people 25 and older who live in the U.S. Yep, that’s me. So this is how you can leverage the power of the binoculars to spy on your competition and find out what they’re doing.
