All small business owners know that they need to get attention in order to bring more customers, clients, and patients into their business. Yet, so many small business owners are almost like they’re just stripping down, running down the street naked, holding up a sign saying, “Here’s the name of my business.” Sure, that’ll get you attention, but probably not the right kind of attention that you want. What I’m talking about here is that small business owners think so broad that they need to serve everyone. I’ll ask them, “Who is your target customer?” I get answers like, “Hmm, anybody within five miles of my business,” or, “Stay-at-home moms,” or, “Golfers.” These are really broad audiences and you can’t effectively serve them all.
My mantra has always been be something for someone.
