Here’s the transcript:

Hey everybody. I got an interesting question this week from a new client that I brought onboard, who does coaching and her question was, should she mix business and personal when it comes to social media?

You see, she has a personal page where she posts a lot of things about her coaching services. She was wondering if she should take the time and effort to set up a business page where she’ll then be having to post in two different places. My answer was yes. You should separate business from personal when it comes to social media and here’s why.

One is that when you’re posting things about your personal life, your kids, what you’re eating, even religious or political views, that’s something that should really stay personal. Your business page should be showcasing the expertise and the solutions that you offer. You can post between both, but my recommendation is to keep them separate.

Another reason you’ll want to keep them separate is for SEO. You see, Google doesn’t recognize a personal page. It will recognize a business page and I know you want the SEO boost, so that’s another reason to have a business page.

I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.

The third reason is that with a business page, you get metrics. You don’t get those metrics on a personal page and I know that you want to know how your social media’s doing. On a business page you’ll get to see what posts are doing the best, how many likes and your growth and just so many metrics that will help your social media grow.

Those are three reasons to keep business and personal separate when it comes to your online presence on social media. What do you think? What are you doing? Do you keep them separate? Leave me a comment below. I’d love to hear from you.
