Here’s the transcript:

Hey everybody, Small Business Stacey here. Today, with a little bit of tough love, because we are going to talk about this. This does not work when it comes to your marketing. There is no easy button.

I just finished up a call with a potential prospect who signed up for one of my Free 30 Minute Marketing Breakthrough Strategy Sessions. Of course I was asking, what’s working in your marketing and what’s not? He started sharing some of the things that actually were working. He was running some Facebook ads, and he was bringing in some traffic. But, he was just getting some ho-hum results, kind of just paying for the cost to run the ads. He wanted more, he wanted bigger results.

I shared with him at least three different strategies that could do that. One, being content marketing. Focus as the local expert based on what he did. “Nope, I want this. That’s too hard. I can’t do that.” We talked about doing a different strategy, like direct mail. Sticking out, doing something different. “Nope, I want this. Oh, I can’t do direct mail. That’s too hard.” We talked about video. “Nope, I want this. I can’t do video. Oh my God, are you kidding? That would be a lot of work. I’d have to think through what I’m going to talk about, and then do some editing. Oh my God, I’d be horrible on video.”

Everything he said was no, he just wanted this … the Easy Button Marketing. I said, “Bye, bye. You would not be a good client for me.” See, small business marketing is EZ not Easy. I did write the book on it. But, that’s an oxymoron, because although it is easy, if you do a few things and do them well, that doesn’t mean it’s this, that you get to push the button and voila, 10 million followers, 10 million dollars in the bank, 10 million responses of ROI. It just doesn’t happen that way, and I know that you’re smart enough to know that yourself.

These people who come online preaching their programs, and that they can help you achieve your goals, just boom, by snapping your fingers. You should know that, that is not reality. If that’s what you want, then go get a job. Small business is hard. You have to work it. You have to be willing to put yourself out there, and do what it takes to succeed.

I teach practical, down to earth, marketing tips and strategies that you can take and implement so that your marketing is EZ. All right, that’s my rant for today. This easy button, if you are part of my community, then it needs to go in here (Trash Can), all right?

That was easy.

That was easy. Putting it in the trashcan. What are your thoughts on this topic? Leave me a comment below.
