Your online front door and the 16 elements you must have in place. Element number 11. Today we’ll cover element number 11, having personality and being fun. If you want people to stick around on your homepage you need to add some personality to it. It’s okay to be human, people like to be entertained and it’s great to showcase your personality. Let’s look more in depth at this element and how you can incorporate it into your homepage.

Fun means different things to different people. Fun can be whimsical or playful, but fun can also be humorous and sometimes mischievous. The great news is that it doesn’t take an expansive budget, a Google programmer, or even cute little puppies, to show that your company is fun to do business with. Today, Small Biz Stacey will share two sites that do a great job of incorporating fun and personality into their online front door.

First is nuts.com. They use these cute little mascots to make something boring, a nut, fun and exciting. These mascots are adorable, amusing, and most importantly, they stick in people’s memories. When you add a mascot to your website it can give your visitors something to remember and also act as a fun mouthpiece, no pun intended, for your business.

Next is Glass Backwards. They use playful and contrasting fonts, which add a splash of fun to create depth and interest. The fonts visually relay what the drink is all about and entice you to click to learn more. Now, be careful of using too many different fonts on your homepage. Just remember the fun and functionality rule when playing around with fonts. If it’s too difficult to read at a glance then it’s probably too much fun.

As anyone who’s thrown a surprise party knows, surprises can be a lot of fun. They are memorable and get people talking. All in all, having fun with your website is good for business, as long as you don’t get carried away. Delightful surprises will encourage users to delve deeper and explore further. Your customers will appreciate the added enjoyment and personality and they’re going to be much more likely to share your content with others. Show visitors you are fun to do business with. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results.

Showcase your personality and the fun that you have on your homepage. It will build an emotional connection with your customers, clients and patients, and make them want to buy more from you.
