Your online front door and the 16 elements you must have in place.

Element number two. Today we’re going to cover element number two, which is making sure that your home page delivers a promise.

When a user comes to your home page it needs to be very clear, up front, what it is that you deliver. It can be through the words that are on the page, it can be through the images that are on the page. But in one second someone is going to make a decision whether you have something that you can deliver to that user or not. Let me share an example of a site that does a really great job of delivering on its promise.

First let’s look at an example of a site that does not deliver on its promise. When you pull up smileessentialsdental.com you see an image of the countryside. What does have to do with dentistry? Am I going down this long, windy, gravel road to find this dentist who is going to work on my teeth? Nope, I don’t think so. Big disconnect, no promise delivered here.

Let’s look at Beautiful Baths and Kitchens, the promise is clear, their name says what they do. The images show how they deliver on that promise, the text reinforces it. I really like that they say who they are and who they serve. Montgomery County bathroom remodeling serving Bethesda and surrounding areas. This site does a great job of delivering their promise in showing who they are, what they do, and who they serve in three seconds or less.

Make sure that your home page makes a promise that you can deliver.
