It’s freezing out here. What does that have to do with marketing? This week, in Marketing in 2 Minutes or Less …

Hey everybody, “Small Business Stacey” here. It is freezing outside, but I’ve been able to heat up my sales and I want to share some ideas with you today for how you can do the same. You see, in my smoothie business, there would be three months out of the year where I had no business because nobody wanted a smoothie in the winter. What did I do? I listened to my customers and my clients and I found a revenue opportunity by doing hot chocolate bars, which kept me busy all through the winter. That’s what I’m doing here today. I set up a hot chocolate bar and what I want to share with you today are four ways that you could bring in more revenue to your business during the slow time.

One is, you could do something like I did where you can add on a new product or a service for something that you don’t have to invest a lot of money to do. For me to do a hot chocolate bar, I already had the equipment and it kept my staff busy year round. Think of something that you could add on very easily.

Another way, number two, is to add on and go after another niche. For example, when I started doing catering, I focused on accounting firms and I realized that was a great niche, so then I went into focusing on law firms. Then I went on focusing onto other niches. Is there another niche that you can focus on to get more business?

Number three, if you can’t add on a new product or a service, perhaps you could partner with somebody who would be a great referral. For example, if you’re a plumber and you’re in somebody’s house and you notice perhaps they need some handiwork and you just happen to know a great handyman but you’re not necessarily a handyman yourself, well you could refer that business on and perhaps make some extra money as a referral fee.

The fourth way that you can get more business is to consider doing a daily deal. That was the key strategy that took my struggling coffee business, which was $500,000 in debt to a seven figure profitable business. Running something, a deal, on a site like Groupon when your business is slow, it’s a great way to get new leads and customers and clients into your funnel. Wondering if it can work for you? Go to dailydealsformassiveprofits.com and on the front page there’s a quiz that you can take which will walk you through asking a few questions to tell you if it’s the right solution for you.

Those are four ways you can heat up your sales when it’s cold outside baby. This is “Small Business Stacey”, your Small Biz Marketing Specialist here to help you become a #SmallBizMarketingWiz
