It’s September. You know what that means?

It’s September. That means we’re three-quarters of the way through the year already. Are you three-quarters of the way in achieving your marketing goals for this year? If you are, congratulations, and let me tell you, you are doing way better than 99% of the other small businesses out there. Most small businesses probably didn’t even make it to the first 30 days, and they gave up on their goals. Why is that?

Usually, it’s because it comes down to implementation, getting the stuff done. You see, when you’re setting this big goal that expands over a year, it’s too hard to see the big picture and all the little things you need to do to get things done. Well, I found a book that’s really helpful in that regard. It’s called The 12 Week Year by Brian Moran.

Now, just imagine if your “year,” quote-unquote, were 12 weeks, three months. If you had three months to get everything done in your business, what would you do? Chances are you’re going to prioritize and work on the things that are going to bring the most ROI and make your business succeed. That means you’re not going to be spending time doing social media, sending out emails, and doing all those grunt-and-grind tasks that don’t bring in money.

Those are the types of activities that you should outsource to someone who specializes in it, such as the small biz marketing specialist, because my motto’s always been, “Do what you do best, and outsource the rest.” Truly, that’s the only way that I can run my three businesses. I have learned a lot from reading The 12 Week Year. Because by being able to break it down into a short period of time and really being able to focus on, “What can I do that’s going to bring in the most ROI, knowing that I need to achieve that at the end of the 12 week, quote-unquote ‘year’?” has really kept me on track to reaching my goals. I hope it’ll do the same for you.
