Kind of makes me think back when I used to watch Donny and Marie, and they would ask a similar question. “Are you a little bit country or are you a little bit rock and roll?” Okay, I’m dating myself, I know. Look, I know that most entrepreneurs are dreamers. We love to dream, right, because the day you started your business you had a big dream. There was no doubt in your mind that you were going to be hugely successful and profitable, otherwise, you wouldn’t have started it, right? Well, it’s great to have dreams, but you also have to be a doer. You see, dreams are like that hot looking guy or gal across the room, right, but doing is sort of like the ugly cousin, right, that nobody wants. You as an entrepreneur, you have to be a combination of both. You actually have to be a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll, so I’m going to share with you my four strategies of how you can combine those into one personality.

Strategy number one, give your goals a format outside of your mind. What I do is I actually have a journal, and I know this is going to show up backwards because I’m doing this on my phone, but I have my bucket list journal where I literally write down what I want to do and what I want to achieve, and I also have a vision board that I keep in front of me day after day. This is my RV, and I will have my RV, and I’m going to be traveling all around the country helping small business owners. So, put what you want to dream into a visual format because then it makes it easier to do because you know what you need to do to achieve the dream.

Strategy number two, stop running from the necessary. Look, you know you got to do the stuff so sweeping it under the rug and thinking it will go away. That’s not going to help, all right? A strategy that will help is following my motto “Do what you do best. Outsource the rest.” If you need help with your marketing give me a call. I and my team would love to help you. If there’s stuff that you’re not good at or you don’t want to do, follow that motto, okay, but at least you need to be doing something. Acknowledge that you’ve got to do it. Another strategy for that is just get it done. Do it first thing before twelve o’clock and that way you’ll feel like you’re making some progress.

The entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity.

Strategy number three set small goals with deadlines, and I always talk about this. It’s like the O in my Action Marketing System. O is for ongoing. It’s about doing small things every single day so that it’s ongoing. It’s easy to say, “Today, I’m going to make three or four sales calls,” or “I’m going to do four or five handwritten notes to my clients.” Those are small goals that you can set a specific deadline and check it off the list. You’re going to feel great about it instead of this huge, hairy, audacious goal that’s just too much to bite off and chew. So, small steps with deadlines.

And step number four, strategy number four, is be in the company of doers. One is a lonely number as an entrepreneur so it’s really important to surround yourself with people who can support you, that’s why I’m so glad that you’re here as part of the Small Biz Marketing Success Group, but I’ve also realized that a key part of my growth, success, and profitability has come from being in a Mastermind group and that’s why I’m excited to announce that I’m going to be launching my own Mastermind group because it’s important to be surrounded by people who can support you and when necessary challenge you. So, if being part of my Mastermind group is something that you might be interested in leave me a comment below so I can make sure you get the information on that.

All right, those are my four strategies for how you can combine being a dreamer and a doer, being a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. What’s your take on all of this? Leave me a comment below.
